As Business Applications Lead, you take the lead in shaping IT solutions within our enterprise service landscape, with a strong focus on the ServiceNow platform.
This is not a traditional project management or people management role. As the subject matter expert, you combine a strong understanding of service processes with in depth IT expertise. You work at the intersection of business requirements, solution architecture and functional design, leading solution design and technical decision making.
You translate complex business and service process requirements into clear solution requirements and functional designs covering processes, data, integrations and technology. You challenge both requirements and proposed solutions, assessing whether they address the actual business need and fit within the platform and wider IT architecture.
Working closely with business stakeholders, architects, developers and other IT specialists, you provide technical and functional direction throughout solution design and delivery. You identify dependencies, integration requirements and potential technical risks, while ensuring that solutions are scalable and maintainable.
Your impact goes beyond individual changes or projects. You help shape how our ServiceNow landscape evolves, making decisions with reusability, data flows, integrations and long term maintainability in mind. You look for opportunities to reduce complexity, improve existing solutions and make smarter use of the platform.
- Translate business and service process requirements into solution requirements and detailed functional designs
- Lead the functional and technical validation of solutions built on and around the ServiceNow platform
- Review and challenge solution designs to ensure they meet business requirements and align with the intended architecture
- Assess the impact of proposed changes across processes, data, integrations and connected systems
- Work closely with architects and development teams to translate functional requirements into technically feasible solutions
- Identify dependencies, integration requirements, data flows and potential technical risks early in the design process
- Guide business stakeholders in making informed solution decisions by explaining technical possibilities, limitations and trade offs
- Ensure solutions make effective use of existing platform capabilities rather than introducing unnecessary customization or complexity
- Maintain consistency between business requirements, functional designs, technical designs and the final implemented solution
- Provide subject matter expertise throughout the solution lifecycle, from initial requirements and design through implementation and validation
- Contribute to the continuous development of the ServiceNow landscape by identifying opportunities for standardization, simplification and reuse
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. A Master's degree is considered an advantage.
- 8+ years of experience in IT, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience in ServiceNow consulting, solution design, implementation, and platform development.
- Proven experience delivering complex enterprise-scale ServiceNow implementations across multiple countries, business units, and stakeholder groups, with a strong track record of leading digital transformation, process optimization, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Advanced ServiceNow expertise across architecture, configuration, customization, integration, and administration, including ITSM, CSM, FSM, Service Catalog, Knowledge Management, CMDB & Discovery, and ITOM.
- Hands-on expertise in JavaScript, Business Rules, Script Includes, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP APIs, and Service Portal/UI Builder.
- Strong understanding of ServiceNow best practices, platform governance, security, and upgrade methodologies, with experience designing scalable solutions aligned with business requirements while minimizing technical debt.
- ServiceNow certifications such as CSA, CAD, and CIS in ITSM, CSM, FSM, ITOM, or SPM, experience integrating ServiceNow with Salesforce, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft technologies, and other enterprise applications, and knowledge of enterprise architecture and integration patterns are considered strong advantages.
