[Remote] Senior Software Engineer

The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Microsoft is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join Azure Arc within Azure Core, which extends Azure services and management capabilities across on-premises, multi-cloud, and edge environments. The role focuses on designing, developing, and operating scalable Kubernetes-based hybrid cloud and virtualization platforms using technologies such as Go, Python, Kubernetes, Linux, KubeVirt, and KVM.

Responsibilities

• Work with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features
• Contribute to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight
• Create and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable
• Contribute to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems
• Remain current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale

Skills

• * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Golang, or Python + OR equivalent experience
• * Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
• * Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Golang, or Python + OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Golang, or Python + OR equivalent experience
• * Experience with containers and Kubernetes
• * Ability to engage in site-reliability engineering practices
• * Demonstrated problem solving and debugging skills
• * Experience building RESTful services and experiences developing software hosted in Azure, AWS, or other similar Cloud platforms
• * Experience with Linux virtualization technologies, including QEMU, KVM, libvirt, and virtio
• * Experience with hypervisor architecture, VM lifecycle management, CPU/memory virtualization, NUMA, SR-IOV, and device passthrough
