Job Description
AI Engineer
Location
United States or Brazil | Remote/Hybrid
The Opportunity This is a senior, hands-on builder role focused on turning well-defined business problems into reliable AI systems.
You will design architectures, write production code, connect business systems, and create the evaluations and monitoring needed to prove solutions work. You will work directly with business leaders and technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you will be accountable not only for shipping software, but for driving adoption and measurable results.
What You'll Do
- Own AI solutions end to end—from defining the business problem and data flow through model reasoning, tool calls, integrations, deployment, adoption, and ongoing support.
- Design and build production applications, agents, workflows, APIs, and data pipelines using an AI-first engineering approach.
- Make and defend architecture and tool-selection decisions while identifying security, reliability, data, and maintainability risks early.
- Connect AI solutions to CRMs, ERPs, databases, data warehouses, messaging platforms, and other business systems.
- Create evaluations using real-world data and instrument systems for quality, cost, latency, failures, and regression.
- Work directly with non-technical stakeholders: observe workflows, prototype quickly, gather feedback, and iterate until the solution is adopted.
- Build reusable components, prompt libraries, playbooks, and patterns so successful solutions can be adapted across teams and use cases.
- Document systems clearly and leave behind maintainable capabilities that others can extend.
What Success Looks Like
- Ship initial production-ready tools within approximately 60 days.
- Establish clear evaluations, monitoring, and feedback loops for every workflow owned.
- Reduce measurable manual work, improve throughput or quality, and demonstrate sustained user adoption.
- Become a trusted technical partner to business and technology leaders.
What You Bring
Required
- Several years of experience building and shipping production software, with specific systems and outcomes you can discuss.
- Hands-on fluency with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude, or Google Gemini, including programmatic prompting and multi-step workflows.
- Strong coding ability across the stack; Python and/or TypeScript strongly preferred.
- Practical experience with APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, SQL, PostgreSQL or MySQL, data formats, authentication, and system integration.
- A verification mindset: you design evaluations, monitor behavior, and treat model output as something to test—not trust by default.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, sound business judgment, and the ability to work effectively with senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort working with ambiguity, imperfect data, skeptical users, and real-world delivery constraints.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
Highly Valued
- Experience building multi-step agents or workflows using LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, model SDKs, or custom orchestration.
- Experience integrating AI into a CRM, ERP, data warehouse, or another business-critical platform.
- Deep knowledge of a second domain such as finance, healthcare, consumer, B2B SaaS, supply chain, sales operations, or data engineering.
- A public technical artifact, open-source contribution, well-used repository, or substantive technical writing.
- Startup or similarly high-accountability operating experience.
This Role Is—and Is Not
- Hands-on: You will design, build, test, deploy, and improve solutions that reach real users and create measurable business value.
- Not a research role: This is not a research-focused position, consulting-only role, or prototyping environment where demos stop before adoption.
- High autonomy: This role is designed for someone who moves quickly, communicates clearly, and takes ownership from initial concept through implementation.
