Role Overview
The Senior Java eCommerce Developer provides independent advanced analysis, design, development, enhancement, implementation, and support for complex software supporting PLCB's eCommerce environment. The role serves as a subject matter expert for Oracle Commerce Cloud and related systems supporting the Fine Wine & Good Spirits website, Licensee Online Ordering Portal, Associate Portal, and external integrations, including Oracle Integration Cloud.
The primary responsibility is application development within PLCB's Oracle systems, performed independently or as part of a team depending on project complexity. The listed start is contingent on a compliant PATCH. Oracle Commerce Cloud experience is advantageous but is not mandatory.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze existing code and business requests, plan and design solutions, develop and debug code, and complete internal testing before business user acceptance testing.
- Develop and support PLCB Oracle systems, including the Fine Wine & Good Spirits website, Licensee Online Ordering Portal, Associate Portal, Oracle Commerce Cloud, and associated external environments and integrations.
- Document completed work and changes within the code base and agency change-management system.
- Follow agency change-management guidelines and communicate system changes during review activities.
- Develop level-of-effort estimates for service requests and enhancements, document the estimates, and present them to IT and business stakeholders.
- Conduct team testing of system changes, document defects, resolve issues, and retest before returning changes for additional business user acceptance testing.
- Perform peer review of development work and review code produced by other team members when required.
- Support nonproduction environments used for testing and move code and changes through environments while maintaining clean configuration.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for supported systems and evaluate business requests involving packaged application software, advising on the most efficient technical solution.
- Provide individual and project status reporting covering project status, performance, training, progress against objectives, and deviations from objectives.
- Assist with assessment of software products and make purchase recommendations aligned with organizational and Commonwealth objectives.
- Troubleshoot, investigate, and debug application problems and defects; research issues, review logs, document findings in tickets, and develop proposed solutions.
- Perform maintenance activities as needed, including stopping and restarting jobs or integrations during off-hours.
- Monitor system performance and operational deficiencies, recommend solutions, implement corrective actions, and perform remedial work needed to maintain acceptable performance.
- Work with developers and IT staff on security and quality-assurance activities, including backup, recovery, data security, error handling, and system controls.
- Follow bureau, Commonwealth, and industry policies and standards, including testing documentation, security requirements, PCI standards, and eCommerce team standards.
- Assist with establishing standards, guidelines, and acceptable customer-service levels for PLCB web applications.
- Document design decisions, requirements, and level-of-effort estimates in collaboration with IT staff and business end users.
- Perform other related job duties as needed.
Required Technical Skills
Basic working knowledge of HTML/CSS, SQL, XML/JSON, JavaScript, Java, Open Storefront Framework, and MongoDB is required. The role also requires working proficiency with Oracle SQL Developer, DevOps, and Visual Studio.
Preferred Qualifications
Oracle Commerce Cloud experience is preferred but not mandatory.
