Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and support cloud-native APIs, integration services, microservices, and reusable platform capabilities.
  • Treat internal and external APIs as products by defining consumer needs, stable contracts, documentation, service expectations, ownership, and lifecycle plans.
  • Build platform mechanisms that help engineering teams securely publish, document, discover, version, monitor, and consume APIs and events across Frontline.
  • Learn what matters most to internal developers, customers, and external partners, then translate those needs into practical API and event contracts that solve for meaningful outcomes.
  • Design external interfaces that remain dependable as Frontline’s internal services and domain models evolve.
  • Develop translation, adapter, orchestration, and mediation services that connect external contracts with internal workflows while preserving clear domain boundaries.
  • Apply domain-driven design principles to define bounded contexts, domain models, service responsibilities, ownership, and integration patterns.
  • Develop scalable backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, relational databases, Docker, and modern cloud-native technologies.
  • Establish consistent patterns for authentication, authorization, tenant isolation, pagination, idempotency, error handling, rate limiting, versioning, and backward compatibility.
  • Design and implement asynchronous integrations and event-driven workflows using Kafka or comparable event-streaming technologies.
  • Create reliable producers and consumers using appropriate partitioning, consumer-group, ordering, schema, and delivery strategies.
  • Design event contracts that can evolve predictably without creating unnecessary disruption for downstream consumers.
  • Implement resilient patterns for retries, dead-letter handling, replay, duplicate detection, idempotency, recovery, and failure management.
  • Evaluate when synchronous APIs, asynchronous events, orchestration, or a combination of approaches will deliver the most effective and sustainable solution.
  • Improve the reliability, scalability, observability, security, and performance of distributed integration systems.
  • Partner with product, architecture, security, and engineering teams to create reusable platform solutions that balance immediate needs with long-term ecosystem health.
  • Improve the developer experience through clear documentation, examples, templates, automation, reusable tooling, service catalogs, and API discovery capabilities.
  • Gather feedback from API and event consumers, earn trust through responsive partnership, and use what you learn to improve platform standards and adoption.
  • Contribute to API and event governance, including design reviews, ownership expectations, compatibility standards, deprecation practices, and migration planning.
  • Participate in discovery, refinement, and technical design discussions to identify tradeoffs and shape practical solutions.
  • Build quality into delivery through unit, integration, contract, API, event, performance, compatibility, and operational testing.
  • Support CI/CD automation and continuous delivery practices that improve delivery speed without compromising security, maintainability, or reliability.
  • Define meaningful service-level indicators, monitoring strategies, and operational expectations for shared platform capabilities.
  • Participate in code and design reviews, offering thoughtful feedback and welcoming perspectives that strengthen team outcomes.
  • Mentor fellow engineers, share learning openly, and contribute to a culture in which people own their commitments and improve together.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and emerging technologies to accelerate exploration, development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational support.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment and human review when evaluating AI-generated recommendations or code.
  • Explore thoughtful uses of AI to improve API documentation, contract validation, integration testing, developer enablement, incident analysis, and engineering workflows.
  • Champion responsible AI adoption while maintaining high standards for privacy, security, quality, scalability, maintainability, and operational integrity.
