What you’ll be doing...

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our wireless Cloud Network Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Core Wireless Network technologies, with a strong focus on Engineering, Architecture and Design. This role requires a professional with a minimum of 6 years of experience in the telecommunication industry or similar, specifically in core wireless network architecture and technology. The Principal Engineer will be a key contributor in designing, deploying, and managing our core network application functions in a virtual or containerized cloud platform, ensuring security, performance, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the engineering and deployment of 5G Core network application functions, including migration strategies to 5G.
  • Managing and provision network resources in VCP (Verizon Cloud Platform) ADT(Application Design Tool)
  • Developing and implement Disaster Recovery Plans and ensure strict Security Compliance across all network functions.
  • Designing and deploy applications in an N+K redundancy configuration to ensure high availability within a reasonable POR (Plan of Record) cost.
  • Utilizing with strong hands on monitoring and analytics tools such as Grafana, Netscout nG1, SevOne, ULM and do periodic Capacity and Demand analysis for current and future growth to track network performance and scale network functions.
  • Working with VAST (Verizon Architecture & Strategy Tool) and act as a systems Custodian for managing network assets certification and management.
  • Engineering and manage SPC (Subscriber Profile Controller) growth forecast and perform Capacity and Demand analysis to onboard Enterprises solution through Open Roaming channel.
  • Conducting Core applications Call flow analysis and provide technical guidance on network architecture and design.
  • Overseeing MTAS (Mobile Telephone Activation System) provisioning interface and growth in relation to SPC and SDM applications.
  • Automating orchestration steps to expedite new build processes. Implement automation and orchestration solutions using AI, ATOM-AI for the applications in Openshift/Web Scale cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (HQP, Maintenance Engineering and Vendors) to ensure seamless integration of new technologies and services.

What we’re looking for...

You’re a technical expert with experience managing multiple medium to large projects at once. Cross-functional work is ideal for you, given your collaborative nature and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders across the organization. You have experience and knowledge in scripting and automation using AI and have a knack for using these abilities to increase efficiency within a production environment. You will have a strong, customer centric voice in assisting with as well as implementing our strategic roadmap.

You’ll need to have

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Experience: 6-8 years of hands-on experience in wireless network performance, operations and engineering, with a focus on core network technologies.
  • Core Network Architecture: In-depth knowledge of 4G LTE, 5G Core, and IMS architecture.
  • Virtualization & Cloud: Extensive experience with VCP (Cloud Platform).
  • OpenStack, WebScale Open shift, Kubernetes, and container orchestration using Helm Charts.
  • Network Builds: Familiarity with tools and processes for cut sheets, ADT Plans, TPS & CPU systems micro services report generation and analysis.
  • Automation & Scripting: Strong knowledge and working experience with AI models, scripting skills and experience with automation platforms like NFVD, NAAVI and ATOM-AI
  • Security & Compliance: Solid understanding or expertise of network security principles, compliance protocols, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to perform complex call flow analysis and diagnose network issues.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or Technology related field.
  • Core Network Components: Proven expertise with 4G components (MME, SGW, PGW, HSS, AAA) and 5G components (AMF, SMF, UPF, PCF, SCP, UDM, UDR).
  • Ability to lead and drive projects to completion and balance multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving abilities, and decision-making skills.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions with a group of individuals in the industry with varying technical positions.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $107,000.00 - $205,000.00.
