Job Description

Sample Tasks

• Validate migrated data in target systems to ensure that it accurately reflects source Informix data
• Analyze legacy Informix datasets to identify remaining system dependencies and active data usage
• Identify data that was not migrated, is incomplete, or does not match source system values
• Perform root cause analysis on data discrepancies and failed or incomplete migrations
• Review prior migration strategies, scripts, and processes to assess effectiveness
• Develop and execute plans to migrate remaining required data to modernized systems
• Build comparison queries and reconciliation pipelines across Informix, staging, and production environments
• Confirm whether staging data is sufficient to recreate missing documents and records
• Assess and validate archived data across storage types (e.g., magnetic, optical, paper)
• Collaborate with business SMEs to determine data retention requirements and resolve data gaps
• Document current and future state data architecture, including ERDs and data flow diagrams
• Provide recommendations and support planning activities for Informix system retirement
• Support broader data research and initiatives across the agency as needed
• Provide knowledge transfer and documentation to State staff
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience designing relational databases and using SQL to interact with data (Informix and/or SQL Server preferred)
• Experience in data migration, validation, and reconciliation for legacy-to-modern system transitions
• Experience reviewing and working with existing ETL/migration scripts and processes
• Experience building ETL/ELT workflows and working with staging vs. production data environments
• Experience performing data analysis and root cause investigation in complex or ambiguous environments
• Experience complying with data quality, data governance, and records retention requirements
• Experience documenting data architecture (e.g., ERDs, data flows)
• Experience managing data within cloud platforms (e.g., Azure)
• Experience using collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Experience communicating effectively with and working with both technical teams and business stakeholders
