Join Henry Schein One!

Join a global leader redefining dental practice management and do work that actually matters. At Henry Schein One, we are a team of care catalysts: people who fuel innovation, challenge the status quo, and bring an entrepreneurial mindset to everything we do. Your ideas fuel innovation that enhances patient care and drives real results for practices.

We don’t just talk about impact; we build it! Backed by a trusted reputation, our leaders foster an inclusive and supportive environment where we stay solely focused on our mission, empowering you to think boldly, collaborate creatively, and grow. We have high expectations for performance and delivering results; as part of a winning team, you’ll work hard, challenge the status quo, and bring a growth mindset. Here, your strengths are recognized, your development matters, and your wins celebrated.

We're seeking a talented and passionate Staff Software Engineer to build and operate internal platforms that Henry Schein One's engineering teams run on – the infrastructure layer, CI/CD pipelines, and the developer lifecycle tooling underneath. Your work will support roughly 30+ development groups and over 180 services.

You’ll be a hands-on individual contributor and technical authority: shaping architecture, mentoring other engineers, and driving reliability and scalability across the platform. You'll operate with little to no supervision, act as a subject-matter expert, and take on difficult, ambiguous problems – establishing reusable software patterns that other teams adopt and making decisions that affect the company's reputation and performance.

This position is remote within the United States with up to 10% travel as needed, with a preference to local candidates willing to work remotely in our American Fork, UT location.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver measurable improvements in performance, reliability, and intelligence by designing and building the internal platform layer – the infrastructure and CI/CD tooling other engineering teams build on top of
  • Develop modern, scalable full-stack solutions with integrated AI capabilities – primarily in Python across a range of frameworks, with growing use of Node.js
  • Own observability tooling and vendor integrations – primarily Dynatrace, including custom integrations and connections to external vendor platforms
  • Provide technical oversight across multiple domains – conducting systems analysis, recommending changes to policies and procedures, communicating architectural standards, and mentoring other developers in applying best practices across teams
  • Support and integrate AWS infrastructure across regions

Technologies We Use

  • Languages & Frameworks: Python, Node.js, Terraform
  • Containerization: Docker and Kubernetes
  • Observability: Dynatrace
  • Cloud & IaC: AWS, Terraform
  • DevOps & Tools: GitLab, Confluence, Jira
  • AI/ML technologies: LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, agentic frameworks, model evaluation and monitoring, responsible AI, AI-assisted developer tools, and AI-DLC

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of software development experience
  • Solid understanding of common architecture patterns and working knowledge of company-wide infrastructure
  • Experience with large language models (LLMs) or similar AI technologies for generating, interpreting, and improving codebases
  • Comfort working across a broad tool surface – the team is a heavy Cursor shop with growing Claude usage
  • Expert level experience in unit testing, integration, and end-to-end testing
  • Track record of owning a domain and defining cross-team, interdependent roadmaps
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring or providing technical leadership to other engineers
  • Passion for building great platforms and driving development team success

What Will Set You Apart

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • AWS, Kubernetes or Terraform certifications

The posted range for this position is $140,000 - $170,000, which is the expected starting salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc. This position is eligible for a bonus target not reflected in the range.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305

OMB Control Number 1250-0005

Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
