Many structural heart patients suffer from heart failure with limited options. Our Implantable Heart Failure Management (IHFM) business's AI, Product and Platforms organization is at the forefront of addressing these unmet patient needs through pioneering technology that enables early, targeted therapeutic intervention. Our innovative solutions are not just transforming patient care but also creating a unique and exciting environment for our team members. It is our driving force to help patients live longer and healthier lives. Join us and be part of our inspiring journey.
At Edwards Lifesciences, the Implantable Heart Failure Management (IHFM) AI, Product and Platforms organization designs and builds the software and data products that clinicians and patients depend on. As a Senior Technical Product Manager, you co-own product strategy and roadmap with Marketing for a single product area, one application or one platform service area, translating the marketing requirements and writing the technical requirements yourself and partnering with engineering as a credible technical peer who can argue API design and architecture choices.
Based in Irvine, CA, you'll join a high-impact medtech innovation hub in the heart of Orange County, collaborating in person with cross-functional teams to shape patient-focused technology.
How you'll make an impact
- Product strategy and roadmap. Co-own strategy and roadmap with Marketing for a single product area (one application or one platform service area), from problem definition through shipped, measured outcomes.
- Requirements, written yourself. Personally, author detailed technical product requirements with appropriate specificity, and participate substantively in architecture reviews.
- Prioritization tradeoffs. Own the calls within your area: feature build vs. tech debt, depth vs. breadth, refactor vs. ship.
- Outcomes, measured. Measure results through both business metrics (adoption, retention, conversion) and technical metrics (latency, reliability, defect rate).
- Technical partnership. Partner closely with engineering tech leads as a peer who argues architecture, not just a stakeholder who files tickets.
- Discovery and evidence. Run customer discovery and synthesize feedback and product analytics into roadmap decisions, using tools such as Productboard, Pendo, Dovetail, and Amplitude.
- Design control. Author requirements that stand as software design inputs under 21 CFR 820.30(c) and IEC 62304, with acceptance criteria that become verification criteria for regulated products.
What you’ll need (Required)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and 8 years of hands-on experience managing projects of increasing complexity, or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria.
- Demonstrated experience owning product strategy and roadmap for a technical software product area, from discovery through shipped and measured outcomes.
- Proven ability to author detailed, testable technical product and feature requirements, including acceptance criteria.
- Sufficient technical depth to understand code, system designs, APIs, and architecture tradeoffs and effectively partner with engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of software design control practices in regulated environments, including 21 CFR 820.30, IEC 62304, and design change control.
What else we look for (Preferred)
- Experience with regulated products (SaMD, medical devices, or another regulated domain) and design control practice.
- A prior engineering background, or hands-on familiarity with the application and platform stack (APIs, cloud services, mobile or web).
- Experience partnering with UX Design and Marketing Product Management on shared product decisions.
- Familiarity with product analytics instrumentation and experimentation.
Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.
For California (CA), the base pay range for this position is $121,000 to $171,000 (highly experienced).
The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience). Applications will be accepted while this position is posted on our Careers website.
