Job description
Build the data foundation that 37 brands run on, with the modern stack and national backing to do it right.
Perennial Services Group is a national, market-leading platform of more than 37 local brands across landscaping, turf, pest control, arbor, irrigation, and plant health care, with more than 1,900 employees nationwide. Private equity backed, we partner with the founders and management teams of best-in-class home services businesses and support them with centralized marketing, sales, finance, and operations infrastructure that drives scalable, sustainable growth in premium local markets. Our mission is to be the home for the best entrepreneurs, brands, and businesses in home services: we leverage our collective resources, expertise, and passion to help our teams reach their full potential, while honoring the legacies our Partners spent decades building.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Data Engineer to build and own the data layer that powers how Perennial Services Group measures performance across more than 37 brands. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role at the foundation of our data and analytics function: you design and build the pipelines, models, and warehouse structures everything else depends on, keeping data clean, reliable, and structured the way the business actually operates. You report into the Manager of Data & Analytics and work closely with the analytics team whose insight work is powered by what you build.
Why Build Your Career at Perennial
Plenty of data engineering roles hand you someone else’s pipeline to babysit inside a rigid stack.
This one is the opposite
you build the foundation, you decide how it runs, and you do it with a national platform behind you.
- Real ownership, not maintenance. You own the data layer from raw source systems to the clean, modeled data the whole business runs on.
- A modern stack, built to scale. Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, and Power BI, with the freedom to build it the right way instead of inheriting someone else’s shortcuts.
- We think like owners, and so will you. PSG is a company of owners who take results personally, and you will be trusted to build for reliability, catch problems early, and push the fix through.
- Support, not manage. Our model is collaboration, not hierarchy. Leadership backs you and clears the road rather than looking over your shoulder.
- Work that gets used, every day. The pipelines and models you build power the dashboards every President, GM, and leader relies on, so your work drives real decisions instead of sitting in a backlog.
- Room to build something. The data function is still taking shape, so if you are energized by building where little exists today, there is real room to make your mark.
What You’ll Own
Pipelines and ingestion
- Build and maintain scalable, automated pipelines in Fivetran and dbt that bring data into a unified layer on Snowflake, with the scheduling, testing, and alerting that keep data landing on time
Data modeling and the warehouse
- Design clean, well-documented data models in Snowflake that reflect how the business actually operates, all version-controlled through a Git-based dbt workflow
Source system integrations
- Own the integrations across our core operating systems, including Aspire, Real Green, FieldRoutes, ServiceTitan, Acumatica, and ADP, so data flows in cleanly across more than 37 brands
Data quality and reliability
- Own data quality and consistency across systems, monitoring pipelines and catching issues before they ever reach a dashboard
Performance and cost
- Keep the warehouse fast and cost-efficient as data volume grows, tuning models and queries and managing Snowflake compute
Enabling analytics and BI
- Deliver clean, analysis-ready datasets for Power BI and self-service reporting, and turn the analytics team’s needs into reliable models and consistent metric definitions
Documentation and governance
- Document pipelines, models, and definitions, and help establish the governance and engineering best practices that keep the foundation scalable as PSG grows
What This Role Is Not
- A strategy or consulting seat. This is build-first engineering focused on clean, reliable data, not shaping business strategy.
- A people-management seat. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role. You are in the data yourself, not directing a team that is.
- A finished, stable environment. The data function is still being built, so this role suits someone energized by creating structure in a fast-moving organization.
What Success Looks Like in Your First Year
- A scalable, reliable pipeline architecture is in place and running with minimal manual intervention
- Data quality and consistency have measurably improved across brands and core systems
- Reporting across PSG is faster and more accurate because the data underneath it is trustworthy
- Manual, repetitive data work has been meaningfully reduced through automation
- The analytics team and business stakeholders build on the data layer you own without second-guessing it
Who You Are
- The background. 3 to 6 years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or BI development, ideally in a multi-unit, PE-backed, or high-growth environment.
- Hands-on data capability. Strong SQL and real experience building analytical data models, with fluency in a modern stack such as Fivetran, dbt, and Snowflake, or comparable tools.
- Pipeline and reliability engineering. A track record of building and automating data pipelines end to end, with genuine attention to data quality and reliability.
- Integration experience. Comfort connecting multiple source systems into a central warehouse and keeping data flowing cleanly across them.
- Self-sufficient operator. You work independently, set your own priorities, and build your own structure rather than waiting to be handed one.
- Communication and collaboration. A clear, professional communicator who works closely with analysts and stakeholders, explains technical tradeoffs in plain language, and builds trust across the team.
- Nice to have. REST APIs and Python (including AWS Lambda), orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster, CI/CD for analytics, DataNest, Snowflake performance and cost tuning, exposure to Finance or FP&A workflows, and a major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Compensation and Benefits
Beyond the paycheck, the benefits are built to take care of you:
- Health, covered the way you actually use it. Medical, dental, and vision through Cigna, with three medical plans to choose from, plus HSA and FSA options that let you set aside tax-free dollars for care.
- A 401(k) match worth taking. A Safe Harbor 401(k) that matches up to 4 percent of your pay, with immediate 100 percent vesting. Contribute Roth or traditional, your call.
- A safety net for the unexpected. Optional life and AD&D, short- and long-term disability, and legal coverage, all at group rates you would not get on your own.
- Real support for real life. A free, confidential assistance program for you and your whole household, from counseling to legal and financial help, plus optional pet insurance.
- Time to live. Paid time off and company holidays.
The Setup
- Fully remote within the United States
- Built around a continuous build-and-improve cadence, with the freedom to prioritize the work that keeps the data foundation reliable and scalable
- Close collaboration with the analytics team, FP&A leadership, and our platform partners, with occasional travel to brand locations as the function grows
Ready to Build the Data Foundation?
At PSG, you will own the data engine of a scaled, PE-backed platform and build the foundation from the ground up, with direct access to leadership, a clear mandate, and an analytics team ready to build on everything you deliver. It is a rare chance to join a national platform at an inflection point, where clean data meets real-world execution and there is a clear path to grow as the data function does.
If you are energized by building, ownership, and creating the data foundation a whole business runs on, we would love to meet you. Apply today and let’s talk.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Perennial Services Group participates in E-Verify and confirms the employment eligibility of all newly hired employees. Employment is contingent on a satisfactory background check.
Perennial Services Group is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other status protected by law
