The Product Manager owns the strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and lifecycle management for a portfolio of enterprise applications that includes both custom-developed solutions and third-party SaaS or packaged products. This role partners with business stakeholders, engineering teams, vendors, and support teams to deliver measurable business value, maintain reliable operations, and evolve products in line with user needs and enterprise priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Roadmap
Define and maintain product vision, roadmaps, and outcome-based priorities for assigned applications. Balance new capabilities, technical debt, operational stability, compliance, and user experience.
Stakeholder Partnership and Discovery
Engage business users and leaders to understand workflows, pain points, opportunities, and success measures. Translate insights into clear, actionable requirements and product decisions.
Portfolio and Backlog Management
Own and prioritize the product backlog using business value, risk, effort, dependencies, and strategic alignment. Ensure planned work is sufficiently refined for delivery teams and stakeholders have transparent visibility into priorities.
Custom Application Delivery
Work closely with internal development, QA, architecture, and delivery teams throughout discovery, design, development, testing, release, and adoption. Provide timely decisions and clarifications during Agile ceremonies.
Third-Party Application Management
Lead the business and product relationship for third-party applications, including vendor coordination, release-impact assessment, roadmap alignment, support escalation, and evaluation of configuration or enhancement opportunities.
Requirements and Product Artifacts
Create and maintain product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, user experience mock-ups, release communications, and other artifacts needed to align delivery and business teams.
Operational Ownership
Partner with production support and vendors to monitor service health, triage issues, communicate business impact, and prioritize corrective work. Help ensure a disciplined transition from delivery to sustainable support.
Validation and Adoption
Plan and coordinate user acceptance testing, gather feedback, validate outcomes, and support rollout readiness, training, and adoption activities.
Measurement and Continuous Improvement
Define and use product, operational, and adoption metrics to assess performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.
Required Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, computer science, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Five or more years of product management, product ownership, business analysis, or comparable experience supporting enterprise applications.
- Experience managing a mix of custom-developed applications, integrations and third-party SaaS or packaged software.
- Strong ability to turn business needs into well-structured requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and product documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands using data, business value, risk, and operational impact.
- Working knowledge of Agile delivery practices, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Comfort working with software vendors on product roadmaps, support escalations, releases, and enhancement requests.
- Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills; able to lead through influence rather than formal authority.
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot complex software workflows and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A customer-focused, curious, adaptable approach and commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise business systems in a complex, multi-stakeholder organization.
- Experience with product analytics, service management, or application lifecycle management tools (Azure DevOps experience preferred).
- Experience coordinating Tier 2 support activities and working across internal delivery teams and external vendors.
- Other duties as assigned.
