As Specialist Engineer – System Design Tools, you will provide long-term technical ownership of the System Design software ecosystem and support its continued evolution. Working at the intersection of engineering and software development, you will ensure that our engineering tools remain maintainable, scalable, and aligned with business and engineering needs. You will collaborate with engineers across projects and regions to translate engineering methodologies into robust software solutions while promoting modern software engineering practices, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical ownership of the System Design software ecosystem.
- Define and maintain software architecture, development standards, and engineering practices.
- Lead and coordinate software development activities across the System Design Tool Development Group.
- Develop, review, and maintain engineering software using modern software engineering practices.
- Plan, validate, document, and support software releases.
- Translate engineering requirements into maintainable software solutions.
- Support modernization of legacy applications and drive continuous improvement.
- Mentor software contributors and promote knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with engineers, Principal Engineers, and Engineering Managers to support engineering delivery and future capability development.
- Evaluate new technologies and identify opportunities for automation and digitalization.
Essential
- Experience within System Design.
- M.Sc. in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience developing engineering or scientific software.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and software engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Python, VBA, and modern software development practices.
- Experience with version control, software testing, and technical documentation.
- Ability to understand complex engineering workflows and translate them into software solutions.
- Strong communication skills in English.
Preferred
- Experience with engineering analysis software or numerical methods.
- Knowledge of Fortran, C#, or similar technologies.
- Experience modernizing legacy software platforms.
- Experience coordinating technical contributors across multiple projects.
- Familiarity with offshore engineering or subsea applications.
