Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications using Python, Django, and Flask
- Implement enhancements and new features to improve system performance and workflow efficiency
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues through code analysis and debugging
- Maintain and update application dependencies to meet security and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with product owners and technical teams to deliver solutions iteratively
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
- Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure application reliability
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Ensure solutions meet accessibility, security, and quality standards
- Collaborate with data scientists to integrate Jupyter Notebook workflows into production
- Manage version control using Git
- Optimize database interactions and schema design using PostgreSQL
- Utilize Unix/Linux environments for development and deployment
- Work with HTML and JavaScript to support full-stack development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of professional Python development experience
- Hands-on experience with Django and Flask frameworks
- Proficiency in building RESTful APIs
- Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and command-line tools
- Strong knowledge of Git for version control
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database design and query optimization
- Familiarity with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks
- Working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript
- Experience deploying applications on AWS, Cloud Foundry, or Heroku
- Experience using Jupyter Notebooks for data analysis or visualization
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- US Citizenship required
Preferred
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
- Contributions to open-source Python projects
- Experience with advanced data processing or machine learning pipelines
- Experience supporting federal government mission-driven applications
- Knowledge of WCAG and Section 508 accessibility standards
- Familiarity with secure software development practices
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Experience supporting cloud-hosted applications and DevSecOps practices
