PRIMARY PURPOSE
The AV Engineer I is responsible for the overall Audio-Visual infrastructure including engineering, design implementation and integration, as well as support and technical services.
This includes all AV Solutions such as
Control System Automation, Room Monitoring Systems, Live Event Production, Lecture Capture, Digital Signage, Digital Sound Processing, Live Streaming and Video Conferencing/ Unified Communications.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
- AV Infrastructure: Designs, implements, installs, maintains, and administers AV infrastructure including hardware, software, and various configurations to support the AV mission for the campus.
- Tier 3 Troubleshooting: Monitors overall performance of AV environment to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately. Serves as a Tier 3-level escalated support of the AV environment. Analyzes and defines vulnerabilities within AV equipment and signal flows and develop technology solutions independently as needed.
- Commissioning/ Programming: Analyzes and configures hardware and software related to complex AV/IT applications and systems. Edits existing configuration/ programming templates to customize a design/ control system program or DSP to a specific room or application. Provides a wide range of in- depth technical assistance and guidance to user-support staff on these AV solutions.
- Project Management: Serves as technical consultant to project coordinators surrounding AV room design. Works with team to establish and improve processes and procedures. Participates in professional development activities as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or Equivalent and relevant certification, OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1-year relevant work experience, or Bachelor's degree.

Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.

Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
- A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
- (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
- (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
- (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
- (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
- Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
- Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
