We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Systems Engineer to be responsible for building, operating, and maintaining enterprise-grade system infrastructure natively on Microsoft Azure, as well as managing complex hybrid-cloud environments. This role acts as a bridge between traditional systems administration and modern cloud operations, focus areas including operating system management (Linux/Windows), hybrid connectivity, virtualization, and identity systems within the cloud ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Hybrid Systems Infrastructure

Build and manage scalable architectures linking on-premises systems, legacy datacenters, and edge networks directly to Microsoft Azure using technologies like Azure Arc and ExpressRoute.

OS & Workload Engineering

Supervise the deployment, configuration, licensing, and security patching of enterprise virtualised infrastructure, including Windows Server and Enterprise Linux distributions running inside Azure compute layers.

Identity & Directory Services

Manage enterprise identity management fabrics, including Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Entra Domain Services, active directory sync topologies, and role-based access management (RBAC).

Systems Automation

Eliminate manual administrative tasks by writing robust automation scripts using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and deployment frameworks like ARM templates or Azure Bicep.

Business Continuity

Architect, routinely test, and maintain enterprise backup topologies and disaster recovery strategies using Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery (ASR).

Performance Operations

Monitor OS-level performance, troubleshoot deep system bottlenecks, manage enterprise logging via Log Analytics, and configure alerts through Azure Monitor.

Requirements

Experience

5+ years of systems engineering experience, with at least 3+ years architecting and supporting enterprise systems workflows in Microsoft Azure.

Core Technical Skills

  • Deep, production-grade knowledge of core server operating systems (Windows Server, Red Hat, Ubuntu) and advanced troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of foundational networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, load balancers, and firewalls).
  • Practical expertise scriptwriting in PowerShell or Python to automate repetitive system tasks.

Platform Proficiencies

Proven track record deploying core Azure IaaS components (Virtual Machines, Managed Disks, Virtual Networks, Key Vault, and Blob Storage).

Certifications

Active Microsoft Certified

Azure Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified

Azure Solutions Architect Expert designations are highly desirable.

  • Modernized, reliable server infrastructure operating with 99.99% uptime across both cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Highly structured system environments where configurations are entirely automated, auditable, and compliant with corporate governance baselines.
  • Proactive infrastructure monitoring that traps system anomalies and performance drops before they can impact production workflows.
