DATABASE DEVELOPER SR PRINCIPAL

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Database Developer Sr Principal, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our SOCOM Customer. As a Database Developer you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. You will play a key role in designing and maintaining Database and Business Intelligence application platforms.

Technical training, certification(s), or degree

Experience

8+ years of related experience

Technical skills

  • Installation, configuration, administration, and management of Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008R2/2012 and SQL Reporting Services
  • Deep understanding of database schema object management, data modeling, and architecture
  • Strong SQL and Transact-SQL (T‑SQL) experience
  • Experience with Hyper‑V virtual environments and SQL clustered environments
  • Experience with SQL Server replication topologies
  • Familiarity with Resource Governor, Tuning Advisor, SQL Profiler, and Windows Reliability and Performance Monitor
  • Ability to implement and troubleshoot triggers, views, stored procedures, and data integrity constraints

Security clearance level

TS/SCI

  • US citizenship required

Role requirements

  • Facilitate, implement, monitor, and test database backups and recovery methodologies
  • Monitor and optimize production SQL Server database performance
  • Ensure database security, integrity, reliability, high availability, and disaster recovery
  • Identify and troubleshoot database issues; analyze, design, build, test, and implement solutions
  • Manage file system space, database allocation, disk usage, and plan for capacity and scalability
  • Participate in monthly patching outside core business hours
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple IT teams
  • Detail‑oriented with strong prioritization skills and commitment to deadlines
  • Exceptional problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities

The likely salary range for this position is $116,813 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
