Our client is seeking a skilled Senior PHP Developer with strong PHP, MySQL, Linux, and web application development experience to join their growing team. You will play a key role in building and maintaining backend systems, automating document generation, and developing responsive web applications. Your work will directly impact their ability to deliver reliable software and move projects forward efficiently in a fully remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and enhance PHP-based applications and backend systems.
• Use AI coding assistants, including Claude Code within their AWS environment, as part of the daily development workflow.
• Automate PDF document generation using PDFlib or similar PDF generation libraries.
• Develop responsive, user-friendly web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Write and optimize MySQL queries, including schema design, relational database management, and stored procedures.
• Work within Linux environments for development, deployment, scripting, and server configuration.
• Communicate proactively with teammates across time zones, identify blockers early, and contribute ideas that keep projects moving forward.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of professional PHP development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with MySQL, including schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures.
• Comfortable working in Linux environments, including CLI tools and Bash scripting.
• Experience with PDFlib or similar PDF generation libraries.
• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for responsive front-end development.
• Fluent English with exceptional written and spoken communication skills.
• Self-directed, reliable, collaborative, and proactive, with the ability to communicate issues clearly and work effectively in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Git and version control.
• Familiarity with REST API design and integration.
• Experience with cron jobs and task scheduling.
• Basic server administration experience, including nginx and VPS management.
• Familiarity with transactional email platforms such as SendGrid or AWS SES.
• Experience with AWS services such as S3, EC2, or RDS.
• Understanding of web performance fundamentals, including caching, query optimization, and page-load performance.
