About ESHYFT
Nearly 1.3 million Americans are residents of nursing homes, they depend on nursing staff for basic needs. Currently, 99% of nursing homes in the US are facing nursing shortages, which means residents may not receive adequate care.
We’re on a mission to provide health care to the most vulnerable by connecting nurses to healthcare facilities. We’re a technology company that strives to empower nurses by offering flexibility and control over when and where they work, along with higher wages. Through our mobile apps, our community of qualified nurses provide much-needed staff for short-staffed facilities.
Job description
ESHYFT is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (P3) to own a service or feature area end-to-end. Our technology strategy is well-defined, but the specific solution usually isn’t. You will operate with only occasional day-to-day direction, driving the technical design and resolving ambiguity in specs before development starts.
You will be part of a team working to use data to match nurses with shifts to fulfill our company mission – thinking through how to empower nurses and help facilities. This includes building agentic workflows against data and ML models leveraging actions on both sides of our marketplace.
This role is full-stack in practice
day-to-day work leans backend, data, and infrastructure, but you’ll be expected to solve problems end-to-end and pick up frontend work as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a hands-on software engineering role.
- Strong JavaScript and Python skills, plus experience with another language such as Dart.
- Proficient with cloud systems, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiar with infrastructure-as-code systems like Terraform.
- Hands-on experience with LangChain (or AutoGen) for building production-grade LLM applications.
- Strong data skills with familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
- Proven experience with asynchronous flows like Pub/Sub.
What Sets You Apart
- You are passionate about using technology to solve real customer problems at scale.
- You take a pragmatic, thoughtful, practical approach to solving problems that considers trade-offs, simplicity, and maintainability.
- You care about the quality and performance of your software and have a high level of ownership for the systems you work on.
- You can influence your team with clarity and persuasion, and give feedback that helps others grow.
Requirements
- Communicates clearly and constructively, works effectively as part of a team, and adapts well to change.
- Treats colleagues, clients, and stakeholders with professionalism and respect, and contributes to a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for your service or feature area, driving its technical design and architecture decisions.
- Act as an active, constructive code reviewer for your team, and be a resource other engineers turn to on hard problems.
- Participate in your team’s on-call rotation and contribute to operational excellence, including monitoring, incident response, and process improvements.
- Use AI-assisted tools (code completion, chat, agentic workflows) to accelerate your work, while applying the same review bar to AI-generated code as to any other draft, this includes catching failure modes like hallucinated APIs or subtly wrong logic before it ships.
- Refactor code and build shared libraries or patterns your team can reuse.
- Help break down and estimate backlog work, and bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders with clear, well-documented decisions.
