Perform mainframe database Software upgrades
Administer and tune Software AG ADABAS environments
Work with vendor personnel to resolve database problems
Perform day-to-day database maintenance (definition changes, backups, restores, monitoring, reorganizations)
Create and maintain disaster recovery procedures
Support customer needs and requests
Perform database optimization and performance reviews
Onboard new clients
Provide 24x7 on-call support
Maintain documentation for completed tasks
Adhere to change management policy
Apply Licenses for SAG products and apply ZAPs and Service packs
Cooperate with Disaster Recovery Services
Support planned and unplanned database recovery activities
Troubleshoot and solve production database issues
Identify and resolve performance issues
Administer and customize ADABAS/Natural Database
Monitor ADABAS/Natural Database (space and performance)
Maintain and use Software AG ADABAS and related products and utilities

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
10+ years of professional experience in Software AG ADABAS/Natural and related products
Extensive experience with best practices of Software management, maintenance, and documentation
Extensive experience configuring and managing Software AG ADABAS and related products such as Natural
Expertise in ADABAS database administration
Expertise in NATURAL Security
Expertise in Fast Path Database Design
Expertise in Defining FDT and DDMs
Expertise in Performance tuning
Experience with ADABAS utilities (Delta Save Facility, ADABAS Utilities, Natural utilities, SMA, Program Migration tool, Review)
Knowledge of log archive and change accumulation utilities
Knowledge of ADARUN Parameters and Buffer pools
Knowledge of Protection logging and Command Logging
Experience establishing policies and procedures for database management, disaster recovery, security, maintenance, and utilization
Experience reviewing new versions of Software AG ADABAS and related products
Experience managing vendor relations and resolving problems
Experience in a large, 24x7 multi-database environments
Ability to manage competing priorities
Follow ITSM change control procedures
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and effectively to support requests
Must be able to multi-task and work under short deadlines and in high pressure situations
