What you’ll be doing

As a Lead Engineer, you’ll work closely with Product Owners, Engineers and delivery squads to turn the core banking business needs into technical solutions.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Leading technical solution design and delivery ensuring alignment with domain architecture strategies
  • Providing hands-on engineering support and helping developers resolve technical challenges
  • Reviewing code and ensuring solutions meet quality, security and engineering standards
  • Identifying technical risks, dependencies and roadblocks and driving these through to resolution
  • Embedding effective development, testing and operations practices across the squad
  • Supporting root cause analysis, post-incident reviews and the prioritisation of technical defects
  • Leading release planning, change sequencing and technical delivery decisions
  • Contributing to strategic technical roadmaps in partnership with product and architecture teams
  • Creating and maintaining clear technical documentation, standards and processes
  • Mentoring engineers and helping uplift technical capability across the team

About you

You’re an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, leading technical conversations and helping others deliver their best work. You can balance hands-on engineering with broader platform, product and delivery considerations.

You’ll bring

  • Extensive experience as a software engineer including previous leadership experience
  • Domain knowledge in Payments, Settlements and Disputes
  • Hands-on experience designing, building and delivering software solutions
  • Experience implementing development automation, CI/CD, test automation, DevOps practices and modern deployment approaches
  • Strong knowledge of scalability, performance, resilience and disaster recovery
  • Programming experience with Java or Node.js
  • Knowledge across AWS cloud components
  • Experience reviewing code and supporting developers and testers through design, build and delivery
  • The ability to identify delivery risks, sequence technical work and resolve roadblocks
  • The ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
