We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Finance Assistant to join our friendly and collaborative team in Belfast.

This is a varied opportunity that will give you exposure to a broad range of day-to-day finance activities, including accounts payable, sales invoicing, reconciliations, employee expenses and reporting. You will be joining a busy and interesting organisation where accuracy, teamwork and a proactive approach are highly valued.

What you’ll be doing

As a Finance Assistant, you will support the wider finance function with the accurate and timely completion of key financial processes.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Supporting the accounts payable process, helping to ensure supplier invoices are reviewed, recorded and handled accurately.
  • Reviewing purchase orders and checking that the supporting information is complete and correct.
  • Responding to supplier queries in a professional and timely way, working with internal colleagues where further information is required.
  • Completing supplier statement reconciliations, identifying differences and helping to resolve outstanding items.
  • Supporting the preparation and processing of sales invoices.
  • Carrying out balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies where appropriate.
  • Reviewing employee expense claims to help ensure they are accurate and supported by the necessary information.
  • Preparing ad hoc reports to support the finance team and wider business.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring information is handled carefully.
  • Supporting the finance team with other administrative and financial duties as required.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who is organised, dependable and comfortable working with financial information. Previous experience in a finance or accounting role would be desirable, but your attention to detail, willingness to learn and ability to work effectively with others will be equally important.

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate

  • Previous experience in a finance, accounts or accounting-related position.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
  • Experience using relevant accounting software or financial systems.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage different tasks and priorities.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving queries.
  • Clear and professional communication skills when working with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • The ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative approach and a willingness to support colleagues across the team.
  • Confidence working with numerical information and financial records.
  • Discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
