Responsibilities

Oversee coding, testing, and debugging of programs
Oversee preparation of test data
Oversee development of flowcharts and diagrams
Prepare instructions for production runs
Develop manuals for end users
Lead and coordinate research and analysis for project proposals
Analyze computer applications in terms of equipment requirements
Evaluate database schemas
Write and run SQL code
Deploy packages and triggers
Review and revise programs to increase operating efficiency
Analyze logs, system messages, and thread connectivity
Troubleshoot application issues
Confer with staff to schedule work and coordinate projects
Prepare detailed analyses, plans, and verification procedures
Develop standards and procedures for programming staff
Develop and implement specialized programs to enhance systems software
Recommend and implement changes to improve system performance
Create and maintain backup and restore processes
Coordinate, assign, and track the work of others

Requirements

15 years of Java experience
10 years of SQL database experience
8 years of sustaining and development experience in large team environments
5 years of Linux experience

Preferred

8 years of experience with Atlassian tool suite, especially JIRA
8 years of experience with Agile methodology
2 years of experience with State of Texas applications
2 years of experience with Texas Department of Public Safety environment
2 years of experience transitioning applications from legacy mainframe to Java/SQL
