The Back-End Revenue Cycle Data Analyst, reporting to the Director of Operations, CBO, is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting financial and operational data related to the revenue cycle. This role supports back-end functions including billing, denials, collections, AR management, and payer performance. The Analyst ensures the accuracy and integrity of revenue cycle data and provides actionable insights to improve cash flow, reduce denials, and optimize operational efficiency.
The Analyst serves as a key resource for reporting, dashboard development, and trend analysis. They collaborate with CBO leadership, clinical departments, IT, and finance teams to identify performance gaps, develop solutions, and support strategic initiatives. The role requires strong analytical skills, advanced technical expertise, and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful recommendations.
- Collects, validates, and analyzes revenue cycle data related to billing, AR, denials, collections, edits, and payer performance.
- Develops and maintains dashboards, scorecards, and recurring reports to support operational and financial decision‑making.
- Monitors key performance indicators including net collections, gross days in AR, denial rates, rejection trends, and payer turnaround times.
- Identifies data anomalies, root causes, and operational trends; recommends corrective actions to leadership.
- Supports back-end revenue cycle teams by providing data insights that improve workflows, reduce denials, and enhance reimbursement.
- Collaborates with CBO leadership to develop methodologies for tracking and improving revenue cycle performance.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on revenue cycle data structures, reporting tools, and analytic methodologies.
- Works closely with IT and system administrators to ensure data accuracy, system integrity, and optimization of reporting tools.
- Prepares detailed analytical reports for leadership on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Participates in revenue cycle meetings, presenting data findings and supporting strategic discussions.
- Assists in the development and evaluation of internal controls to ensure accurate billing, coding, and documentation.
- Supports special projects related to system upgrades, workflow redesign, payer audits, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional networks.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- 3–5 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle analytics or related financial/operational analysis.
- Strong understanding of revenue cycle processes, payer rules, and healthcare billing data.
Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable)
- N/A (Preferred: CHFP, CRCR, or analytics certifications such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI)
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $65,885.00 - $98,827.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
