Responsibilities

  • Define cross-company technical vision and roadmap for pricing platform
  • Lead architectural evolution toward modular, reusable platform capabilities
  • Design and improve Tier 0/Tier 1 services with critical latency and correctness
  • Partner with ML scientists to create reliable model-production boundaries
  • Balance competing needs across engineering, ML, and product teams
  • Clarify service, API, configuration, and ownership boundaries across teams
  • Evaluate runtime and language choices pragmatically (Python, Kotlin, Rust, Go)
  • Reduce operational burden through testing, observability, and failure isolation
  • Lead company-wide technical discussions and build alignment
  • Stay close to implementation via design reviews, prototypes, and critical code
  • Mentor senior technical leaders and expand their effectiveness
  • Prioritize technical debt and platform investments based on business value

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, Math, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • Track record setting architecture for large distributed systems
  • Production proficiency in Python, Kotlin, or Java
  • Experience designing Tier 0/Tier 1 services with demanding latency and correctness
  • Strong understanding of APIs, service-oriented architectures, containerization, AWS
  • Hands-on technical judgment from strategy to implementation
  • Strong communication skills for technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-organization technical decisions
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers
  • Strong product and business judgment

Preferred

  • Experience building calculation-heavy, real-time decisioning, pricing, or similar systems
  • Experience partnering with ML teams or productionizing models at scale
  • Experience modernizing a mature platform through staged migration
  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, microservices, event-driven systems, observability
  • Additional production experience with Rust or another performance-oriented language
  • Background in statistics, mathematics, economics, or quantitative domains
  • Experience in a rapidly scaling organization
