Responsibilities
- Contribute to platform architecture, infrastructure, and scalability decisions
- Influence product direction and long-term engineering standards
- Build and shape a platform during its critical early growth stage
- Contribute across backend systems, APIs, infrastructure, mobile systems, platform scalability, and operational tooling
- Operate independently
- Write production-quality code
- Solve complex technical problems
- Contribute to architecture decisions
- Work effectively in fast-moving startup environments
- Help scale systems before bottlenecks occur
- Work directly on critical systems including sports operations, scheduling, marketplace/payment, messaging, media upload/delivery, statistics/standings, organizational hierarchy, admin/operational tooling, and mobile/API integrations
- Develop backend systems, APIs, and infrastructure
- Optimize backend performance and service scalability
- Develop secure APIs
- Debug and troubleshoot production issues
- Contribute to architectural improvements in large backend codebases
- Build and support production cloud systems on AWS
- Optimize PostgreSQL queries
- Design relational databases
- Work with high-volume data systems
- Ensure data integrity and scalability
- Develop mobile and web integration architecture
- Develop cross-platform mobile applications
- Build SaaS platforms, marketplace systems, messaging systems, scheduling systems, media infrastructure, file upload pipelines, search systems, analytics/reporting systems, and operational admin tooling
Requirements
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Must currently reside in the United States
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Strong English communication skills
- Strong production experience with Python
- Strong production experience with Django
- Strong production experience with Django REST Framework (DRF)
- Strong production experience with REST API architecture
- Strong production experience with Authentication and authorization systems
- Strong production experience with Multi-tenant systems
- Strong production experience with Backend performance optimization
- Strong production experience with Service scalability
- Strong production experience with Secure API development
- Strong production experience with Production debugging and troubleshooting
- Comfortable working in large backend codebases
- Strong experience with AWS
