Innovate! Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its geospatial solutions team as a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead. This role serves as a senior technical leader in designing , maintaining and developing a high impact geospatial customer-facing website, providing mentorship to staff, and supporting business growth through solution development and innovation. We are seeking self-starting individuals with a “Let me at it” attitude who can adapt to a fluid work environment and an occasionally demanding schedule. REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- Expertise with .NET C#, ASP.NET, SQL, and MS SQL Server databases.
- Proven ability developing full-stack Web solutions.
- Expertise in modern Web frameworks (e.g., ASP.NET MVC, Javascript React or Angular), GIS Web technologies (e.g., ArcGIS JavaScript API and Experience Builder), robust back-end language proficiency (e.g., Python or Node.js), and strong database management skills
- Strong expertise in geospatial technologies, shapefile processing, Postgres SQL with GIS (PostGIS), Python-GDAL, and interactive mapping/visualization systems for large-scale agricultural or environmental data.
- Hands-on experience building full-stack applications with React.js, Python/Django, and .NET Core backends, including microservices and containerized deployments on AWS Fargate or Kubernetes.
- Proven track record designing multi-tenant SaaS-style platforms, optimizing large-file processing (1 GB+ datasets), and delivering production systems in regulated/government environments.
- Solid understanding of agile/Scrum methodologies and stakeholder communication in federal or high-compliance settings.
- Excellent mentoring skills with a history of guiding small development teams to successful delivery of mission-critical geospatial tools.
- Knowledge of the ESRI suite of GIS software as well as other geospatial frameworks, platforms, and enterprise environments, including ESRI ArcGIS Server.
- Strong understanding of enterprise databases, system integrations, data architecture, and relational database platforms including SQL and MS SQL Server databases.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Web-based solutions.
- Demonstrated project leadership and project management experience, including scope, schedule, and technical oversight responsibilities.
- Advanced experience designing, developing, and maintaining geospatial web applications and interactive mapping solutions.
- Strong expertise in API development and integration, including REST, SOAP, and JSON/XML data formats in support of diverse scientific, analytical, and operational workflows.
- Demonstrated experience supporting deployment, configuration, and maintenance of web applications in cloud and enterprise environments.
- Experience translating scientific or technical requirements into scalable user-focused Web applications.
- Skilled in developing custom scripts for automation, testing, and deployment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Develop and maintain full-stack custom Web applications and components using .NET C#, ASP.NET, SQL, and related technologies in support of customer’s mission.
- Lead the architecture, design, development, deployment, and enhancement of scalable Web software applications and high-performance visualization interfaces.
- Design and optimize backend services for handling large shapefile imports/exports, attribute mapping to database columns, CSV processing, and high-performance geospatial operations using Python-GDAL and PostGIS.
- Participate in the design, development, deployment and enhancement of enterprise and cloud-based geospatial web solutions.
- Evaluate cutting-edge Web technologies for integration into client solutions and long-term strategies.
- Integrate Web services, APIs, enterprise systems, databases, and analytical workflows to support scientific, operational, and business functions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clients, analysts, developers, and project managers, to deliver effective Web applications and solutions.
- Identify organizational and client needs and design solutions, architectures, and implementation approaches to meet those needs.
- Support proposal development, define technical approaches, and engage strategically with clients and teaming partners.
- Communicate effectively with clients, teaming partners, and internal staff at all levels.
EDUCATION
- Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, focusing on programming, data structures, and algorithms. Relevant work experience required based on education level:
- PhD + 3 years of experience
- Master’s degree + 5 years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree + 8 years of experience
- Non-related degree or certification + 10 years of experience
