Please note

This is a full-time position on a 6-month fixed term basis covering for parental leave. This is a New Zealand based fully remote role, open to candidates from anywhere in the country.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Tutor Assistant to support the delivery of our Diploma in Cloud Computing and Cyber Security. This programme equips students with practical, industry-relevant skills in designing, deploying, and managing cloud-based solutions using platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS.

This role works alongside the lead tutor to support students studying in an online asynchronous learning environment. The Tutor Assistant plays an important role in ensuring students stay engaged, receive timely guidance and successfully progress through their learning and assessments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the lead tutor in delivering the Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity programme online.
  • Assist students with learning activities, technical questions and course navigation.
  • Monitor student engagement and participation within the learning platform.
  • Provide guidance and clarification on assignments and learning materials.
  • Support assessment processes, including reviewing submissions and assisting with feedback preparation.
  • Assist with administrative tasks to ensure student records, engagement notes, and academic progress information are kept accurate and up to date.
  • Help facilitate online discussions, live sessions, or support sessions where required.
  • Identify students who may need additional support and escalate concerns to the tutor.
  • Contribute to creating a positive and supportive online learning environment.

About the Programme

The diploma focuses on developing advanced cloud engineering capabilities, including:

  • Cloud infrastructure and modern architecture
  • Cloud-native DevOps and automation
  • Multi-Cloud Security Integration and Project Management
  • Cloud security and scalable system design
  • Deployment and management of solutions using AWS and Azure

Required Skills/Experience

  • A relevant degree-level qualification in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in cloud computing and cybersecurity, including: Public Cloud Administration (AWS, Azure), Data Engineering in the Public Cloud, Cyber Security in the Cloud, Multi-Cloud Security.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Administrator) - preferred
  • Experience in online teaching and learning methodologies.
  • Familiarity with sandbox environments for conducting practical labs and supporting students with hands-on learning
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Commitment to student success and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of Te Ao Māori and a commitment to incorporating biculturalism in the learning environment
