Primary Responsibilities

Trade settlements oversight

Provide end-to-end operational oversight for cash-settled OTC derivatives and physically settled commodity transactions across energy, metals, environmental, freight, and agricultural products.

Post-execution processing

Own critical processes including settlement calculations, invoicing, payment processing, inventory reconciliation, post settlements reconciliation, and exception management.

Settlement risk management

Ensure timely and accurate cash and physical settlements while minimizing operational, financial, regulatory, and reputational risk.

Escalation ownership

Act as the senior point of escalation for complex settlement disputes, cash breaks, payment exceptions, inventory discrepancies, and counterparty issues.

Control framework

Maintain a robust control environment across settlements, reconciliations, payments, inventory, and reporting processes; identify control gaps and drive remediation.

Stakeholder and counterparty engagement

Partner with Trading, Structuring, Risk, Product Control, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Technology, pipeline operators and other market participants.

Business enablement

Provide operational expertise for new products, business growth initiatives, and contractual settlement requirements.

Strategic change and platform development

Lead automation, workflow optimization, reconciliation, inventory reconciliation, and settlement platform enhancement initiatives in partnership with Technology and business stakeholders.

People leadership

Lead, coach, and develop Operations professionals supporting global commodity settlement activities while promoting accountability, risk awareness, continuous improvement, and client service excellence. 10+ years of experience in OTC derivatives operations, commodity operations, trade support, settlements, middle office, or transaction processing functions.

Experience supporting commodity products such as energy, power, natural gas, crude oil, refined products, metals, emissions, freight, or agricultural markets preferred.

Demonstrated leadership experience within a front-office support environment, including team management, stakeholder engagement, escalation management, and delivery of strategic initiatives.

Strong understanding of physical settlement workflows, including scheduling, inventory management, transportation logistics, delivery obligations, and counterparty coordination preferred.

Proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risk through effective controls, governance, issue management, and audit or regulatory remediation.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational metrics, prioritize issues, and drive data-led process improvements.

Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Power BI, SQL, Alteryx, AI tools, workflow automation tools, or strategic data platforms preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex settlement issues, operational risks, and recommendations clearly for senior management.

Commercially minded, results-oriented, and able to operate independently in a fast-paced trading environment with strong ownership, judgment, and attention to detail.

Role is hybrid and will require in office attendance 3 days/week.
