As a QA Mobile Automation Engineer - Freelancer, you’ll work on a product that helps people with the most precious thing they have — their health. We are looking for an experienced QA Mobile Automation Engineer - Freelancer to significantly grow the automated test coverage of our mobile applications. In this role, your primary mission is hands-on test automation: translating our existing manual test suites into reliable, maintainable automated tests within our established automation framework. You will have a direct and measurable impact on how quickly and confidently we can release.

Your upcoming mission

• Convert existing manual test cases from our test management system into automated end-to-end tests for our iOS and Android applications, following the conventions of our existing automation framework.
• Own and drive the strategy to increase automated test coverage, with the clear goal of reducing manual regression effort across our mobile app ecosystem.
• Prioritise which test cases deliver the highest automation value, and keep the automated suite aligned with the manual suite as the product evolves.
• Keep the automated suite green and trustworthy: analyse and troubleshoot test failures, distinguish flaky tests from real defects, reproduce bugs, and provide detailed bug reports.
• Maintain and extend the shared components of our automation framework where needed to support new test scenarios - improving the framework in service of test coverage, not as an end in itself.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to define acceptance criteria and drive testability.
• Integrate and maintain automated tests in our CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), ensuring frequent and reliable releases.
• Be the advocate to ensure that we ship safe applications that meet the highest standards.
• Collaborate with other QA engineers and developers to foster a culture of quality and share best practices in testing.

Essential skills for your mission

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 6–9 years of experience in software QA, with at least 3+ years in mobile automation.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Appium, Espresso, UIAutomator2, XCUITest, and frameworks like TestNG or JUnit.
• Experience with scripting/programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Swift, or JavaScript.
• Proficiency in test management tools (JIRA, Confluence, TestRail) and version control systems (GitHub).
• Exposure to backend/API testing using tools like Postman, JMeter, Charles Proxy or similar.
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and professional working proficiency in English.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate test automation while maintaining high standards for quality, reliability, and user safety.

Bonus skills

• Familiarity with security, privacy, or medical device regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
• Experience working in startups or high-growth product environments.
• Certifications such as ISTQB, CASTP, or similar.
• Working knowledge of SQL and experience with database validation.
• Experience with SAFe Agile frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with device-cloud platforms (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm) for parallel cross-device testing.
