This role will lead and mentor a team of business analysts to deliver high-quality data and analytics products and services fostering a culture of innovation, critical thinking, and continuous improvement while meeting and exceeding individual and team monthly, quarterly and annual goals .Will own and drive a portfolio of Business Intelligence engagements, leading to actionable insights.
This role will develop defensible business cases and ROI models, to prioritize opportunity set and optimize financial outcomes. Guide market research, data aggregation and analytical approaches to drive toward industry-leading assets .As the leader of the Business Intelligence team, you are the expert on report design and data visualization. You use it to build reporting that drives action, ensure the integrity of data being reported and draw insights to uncover opportunities. Manage a team of skilled analysts who produce insights that support decision making and innovation across different functions, such as underwriting, distribution, finance, operations, and risk management. Communicate and present complex data and analytics findings and recommendations to diverse audiences, using clear and compelling visualizations and narratives.
This role will also act as a change agent who helps the business leverage the insights and analytics to create value and competitive advantage. Working closely with senior executives and other key stakeholders to align the data strategy with the business goals and vision. Will be responsible to define and align on the vision, strategy, and roadmap for business intelligence and analytics across the enterprise.
What will you do
Insights & Analysis
- Own and drive a portfolio of Business analytics engagements, leading to actionable insights across Underwriting, Business Development, Finance and Operations
- Develop defensible business cases and ROI models, to prioritize opportunity set and optimize financial outcomes
- Guide market research, data aggregation and analytical approaches to drive toward industry-leading assets
- Act as a change agent who helps the business leverage the insights and analytics to create value and competitive advantage.
- Measure and monitor the outcomes and impacts of the business intelligence and insights initiatives, and communicate the results and learnings to relevant stakeholders
Reporting
- Produces key operational reports, including broker monitoring, executive performance reporting, etc. These critical reports are viewed daily by members of the Executive Committee
- Working with cross-functional teams, you will participate to gather and document reporting requirements to meet business needs.
- Collaborates with Data Engineering and Data Science teams to create interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to key stakeholders, including executives and department heads.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of the reports, dashboards, and analytical products delivered to the internal and external stakeholders.
- Responsible for overseeing the team that is responsible for design, development, implementation, and support of internal and customer facing Business Intelligence reports and dashboards.
- Monitor usage/adoption & own application/report maintenance & retirement strategies.
Strategy
- Execute the strategy of the business intelligence and insights function, delivering on the group vision and roadmap that ties together ad-hoc analysis, reporting and the tools required across multiple business lines and support functions.
- Identify and leverage best practices, tools, and methodologies for business intelligence and insights, and foster a culture of data-driven decision making and innovation.
- Work closely with senior leaders to drive data-driven decision making by by changing business processes to better leverage analytical insights, and model driven results.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, and seek opportunities to enhance the reputation and influence of the business intelligence and insights function.
- Execute on the roadmap with key milestones, focusing on driving value through change, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Foster innovation through collaboration and team building, drawing on internal expertise while staying current with market trends.
People Leadership
- Lead and inspire a high performing team of business intelligence and insights professionals, through a combination of hands-on work and strategic guidance, provide coaching and mentoring to support their career development and growth.
- Assist the team with technical questions and challenges, and ensure they have the skills and resources to deliver quality and timely insights and solutions.
- Manage the people aspects of the team, including hiring, performance management, recognition, and retention.
- Develop and execute a talent strategy that aligns with the company's vision and values, and supports the current and future needs of the business intelligence and insights function.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and impact of the business intelligence and insights function, and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement and optimization.
- Manage the budget, resources, and risks of the business intelligence and insights function, and ensure compliance with the company's policies and standards.
What skills will you need
- Undergraduate degree preferred in a technology/analytical field such as Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Data Science, Operations Research, Machine Learning, Engineering, or other relevant scientific fields
- Minimum of 10 years of insurance experience, with a deep understanding of insurance industry trends and products.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience
- Required experience in property and casualty
- Strong knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI, ThoughtSpot, Tableau. Experience in a Power BI administrator position, either as a User admin or Power Platform admin is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing data in the insurance industry and developing insights to identify shifts and emerging trends in marketplace, as well as ability to monitor performance against objectives.
- Demonstrated business acumen, with the ability to apply extensive knowledge of the insurance industry, and influence stakeholders while fostering collaborative relationships across the organization.
- Foster a culture of innovation, adaptability, and continuous learning to enable the organization to stay ahead of industry trends and customer requirements
- Demonstrated aptitude for strategic, analytical, and critical thinking
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, specifically proven ability presenting detailed technical and statistical analyses in front of Senior Executives
- Proficiency in relational and non-relational databases, with experience scripting with SQL and/or Python, extracting large sets of data and performing transformations
- Proficiency in designing and implementing data pipelines, dashboards, and reports with a strong understanding of the business questions and analytics
- Understanding of data integration issues (validation and cleaning), familiarity with complex data and structures
- Self-motivated: Prioritize multiple workstreams & contending priorities, and distill a plan that can be implemented for the team
