About the Leadership Development Program

The CSX Leadership Development Program is an 18-month professional development experience designed to provide associates with meaningful exposure to CSX operations, business functions, and leadership. Through a combination of structured learning, training opportunities, mentorship, field experiences, networking events, and collaborative development activities, associates gain a broad understanding of the railroad industry while building the skills needed to succeed in a dynamic business environment.

Throughout the program, associates will strengthen their leadership capabilities, expand their business acumen, and develop professional competencies that support long-term career growth. By the conclusion of the program, participants will be equipped with the knowledge, experience, and confidence to influence decisions, drive innovation, and contribute strategically to CSX's continued success.

The CSX Leadership Development Program is expected to begin in June 2027. Early-start opportunities may be available for candidates who graduate prior to the official program start date.

Job Summary

Fortune 500 company seeking future business leaders to help foster growth, efficiency and innovation as a Technology Leadership Development Associate (LDA). Leadership Development Associates participate in a 18-month program aimed at developing the skills of future business leaders within the Technology organization. The Technology LDA creates innovative applications, processes, and tools that support business needs and enable business growth. LDAs serve as key members of product and software engineering teams to discover business opportunities which lead to the design, development, and sustainability of high quality software. The LDA will work in a full-time position in CSX Technology while also participating in a structured orientation and career development program to increase their knowledge of CSX and the railroad industry.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

Leadership Development Professionals will be placed with a technology team based on their skills, aspirations, and active company initiatives. An LDA may work with one or more teams including: Applications Development, Product Management, Industrial Engineering, Data Science & Analytics, Cybersecurity, Agile Delivery, Enterprise Engineering (including Mobility, DevOps, and Cloud), User Experience, IT Operations, Integrations/API, Project Management, Robotics/Drones, and Service Support.

Regardless of team placement, all technology LDAs play an important role in advancing and delivering Technology initiatives. The expectations of these compensated positions include but are not limited to:

  • Active contribution in a dynamic, agile team environment
  • Adherence to best practices for developing and maintaining secure systems
  • Root-cause analysis to iterate improvement and increase reliability and efficiency
  • Engagement across teams and stakeholders to ensure shared understanding and value delivery

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering or a related major field of study from an accredited institution

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and IT specific certifications
  • 2 or more years of experience in Information Technology/Transportation/Intermodal Operations, Information Systems, or Industrial Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to meeting the above qualifications, any of the following are preferred:

  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts, tools, and emerging technologies, with the ability to apply them to enhance business processes and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain and Operations Management to ensure the efficient utilization of resources
  • Knowledge of cloud and low code (Microsoft Power Platform) technologies
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for process optimization of workflow and system
  • Knowledge of risk and cost analysis to ensure resource optimization with risk-to-benefit valuation
  • Knowledge of web (Angular/Java) programming concepts and technologies
  • Knowledge of relational, document, and/or graph database concepts and functions
  • Knowledge of DevOps, cybersecurity, and integration practices and concepts
  • Knowledge of statistical, simulation, modeling, analytical and related programming languages (Python)
  • Knowledge of Quality Management methods and techniques
