HireCare is looking for an experienced remote Software Engineer with strong AI, data, and systems architecture experience to help us build a proprietary technology platform from the ground up.
We're intentionally keeping the product details confidential at this stage. What we can tell you is that we're bringing together large, complex datasets from multiple sources and building an intelligent system that can use data, geography, and AI to solve real-world operational problems.
This is an opportunity for a builder who wants to take an idea from concept → architecture → production.
You won't be inheriting a mature codebase or simply working from a backlog of tickets. You'll have meaningful influence over the technology stack, architecture, data model, AI strategy, infrastructure, and eventual product.
What You'll Build
You will help architect and develop a technology ecosystem that:
- Integrates and normalizes data from multiple internal and external sources.
- Connects disparate datasets into a unified data architecture.
- Uses geospatial data and location intelligence to identify relationships and patterns.
- Applies AI and machine learning to improve matching, recommendations, and decision-making.
- Develops APIs and data pipelines that allow systems to communicate seamlessly.
- Turns complex datasets into intuitive, actionable tools and visualizations.
- Creates a scalable foundation that can support significant growth in both data volume and users.
- Evolves over time into a sophisticated predictive and recommendation platform.
The specific application and business logic behind the platform will be shared with qualified candidates during the interview process.
What You'll Own
- Technical architecture and system design
- Backend and API development
- Data architecture and database design
- Data ingestion, transformation, and integration
- Geospatial capabilities and mapping
- AI/ML and intelligent matching capabilities
- Cloud infrastructure and deployment
- Application security and access controls
- Monitoring, logging, and system reliability
- Technical documentation and engineering standards
You'll be expected to think beyond individual features and consider how the entire ecosystem works together.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced full-stack or backend-leaning engineer who thinks like an architect.
You should be someone who can take an ambiguous problem, figure out what needs to be built, make thoughtful technology decisions, and then actually build it.
You should have
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience architecting and building systems from the ground up.
- Strong backend engineering and API development experience.
- Strong experience with relational databases and data modeling.
- Experience integrating multiple data sources and systems.
- Experience working with geospatial/location data or mapping technologies.
- Experience building AI/ML-powered features or applications.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and modern development practices.
- Experience designing secure applications and handling sensitive data.
- A strong understanding of authentication, authorization, encryption, and access controls.
- The ability to work independently in an environment where requirements aren't always fully defined.
AI Experience Matters
We're not looking for someone who simply knows how to call an LLM API.
We're looking for someone who understands where AI can actually create leverage within a larger software system.
Experience with areas such as the following is highly valuable:
- Machine learning
- Recommendation engines
- Matching algorithms
- Predictive modeling
- LLM applications
- Embeddings and vector search
- RAG
- AI agents
- Intelligent ranking/prioritization
- Automated decision-support systems
You should be able to distinguish between “AI because it's trendy” and AI that genuinely improves the product.
Geospatial Experience Is a Plus
Because location intelligence will be an important component of the platform, experience with technologies such as:
- Mapbox
- Google Maps APIs
- PostGIS
- Geospatial databases
- Distance/proximity calculations
- Location-based recommendation systems
- Geographic visualization
would be particularly valuable.
You don't need experience with every technology listed. We're looking for someone who understands the underlying problems and can select the right tools to solve them.
Security & Compliance
We're building with the long-term goal of supporting a highly secure environment, including the ability to work toward HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance as the platform evolves.
You don't need to be a compliance specialist, but security needs to be part of how you think about architecture.
Experience with
- Secure application architecture
- Role-based access controls
- Encryption
- Audit logging
- Data privacy
- API security
- Secrets management
- Least-privilege architecture
- HIPAA
- SOC 2
is highly valued.
Technology
We're open to the right technology choices and don't expect you to simply work within a predetermined stack.
Experience with technologies such as Python, TypeScript, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, AWS/Azure/GCP, PostGIS, vector databases, and modern AI tooling is valuable.
More important than any particular language is your ability to select the right technology for the problem and build a reliable system around it.
This Role Is For You If...
- You love building things from scratch.
- You can operate without a perfectly defined roadmap.
- You enjoy solving difficult, ambiguous technical problems.
- You think about architecture, not just code.
- You have strong opinions but are willing to change them when the data says you should.
- You're excited about AI but grounded in good software engineering.
- You care about security and data integrity.
- You want significant ownership over what you build.
- You want to see something you architected become a real product.
This Role Is Probably Not For You If...
- You prefer highly defined requirements and tickets.
- You're primarily interested in maintaining an existing application.
- Your AI experience is limited to using ChatGPT or basic API integrations.
- You need a large engineering team around you to make progress.
- You're looking for a role where someone else has already made the major architectural decisions.
Why Join Us?
You'll have the opportunity to build a proprietary technology platform from zero, work directly with leadership, and have a meaningful voice in the technical direction of the company.
The product we're building has significant potential but we're looking for the person who can help us turn the vision into the technology.
If you're the kind of engineer who sees a complex problem and immediately starts thinking about how you would architect it, we'd like to meet you.
Additional details about the product and business application will be shared with qualified candidates during the interview process.
