AI Engineer

About the Role

This is an AI Engineer role on a small, fast-moving engineering team building an AI-native productivity platform in the email and communication space. You will own two of the most critical technical challenges in the product: scaling the backend infrastructure and optimizing the LLM and AI agent flows that power the user experience. Your work directly shapes platform performance and the quality of every interaction users have with the product.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement backend systems and services built to operate at scale.
• Tune and iterate on LLM integrations and AI agent orchestration to improve reliability, efficiency, and real-world performance.
• Take full ownership of backend scalability and AI agent flow optimization from architecture through to production.
• Collaborate closely with a lean engineering team where your decisions have immediate product impact.

What We're Looking For

• Substantial hands-on track record of writing and shipping production software over time.
• Strong backend engineering experience designing and scaling distributed systems.
• Proven, hands-on experience optimizing LLMs and AI agent flows in production environments.
• High agency, a strong sense of ownership, and intentional career choices that reflect a genuine commitment to craft.
• Experience working at fast-growing, early-stage startups, with the drive that environment requires.
• A side-project portfolio or equivalent work that demonstrates technical depth and sustained curiosity.
• Willingness and legal eligibility to work on-site in Stockholm, including relocation if needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range

$80,000 to $120,000 USD annually, plus equity. The salary and equity mix is negotiable, with flexibility for exceptionally senior candidates. Visa sponsorship is not available.

On-site in Stockholm, Sweden. Candidates must be eligible to work in Sweden.
