Seismic Consulting Group is seeking a highly skilled and intellectually rigorous UI/UX Designer to lead the design of data-driven platforms, policy tools, dashboards, and digital systems developed for governments, development partners, and private-sector clients.

This role goes beyond aesthetics. The UI/UX Designer will translate complex policy, financial, M&E, and governance workflows into intuitive, accessible, and scalable digital experiences. The designer will work closely with researchers, AI/ML engineers, software developers, and sector experts to ensure that Seismic’s digital products are usable, credible, and decision-oriented.

What Makes This Role High-Impact at Seismic

  • You will design systems that influence policy decisions, public finance, education outcomes, and governance reforms.
  • Your work will be used by ministries, development banks, donors, and international partners.
  • You will help shape Seismic’s identity as a next-generation consulting firm that blends evidence, technology, and design.

The ideal candidate will also

  • Conduct user research across diverse stakeholder groups including policymakers, civil servants, administrators, development partners, and the general public.
  • Translate TORs, policy documents, PRDs, and technical briefs into clear user journeys and experience maps.
  • Define user personas, use cases, pain points, and access constraints (low bandwidth, mobile-first, accessibility).

2. UX Design & Information Architecture

  • Design end-to-end user flows for complex systems such as:
  • Monitoring & Evaluation platforms
  • Financial intelligence dashboards
  • Education and TVET management systems
  • AI-enabled advisory and analytics tools
  • Develop logical information architecture that simplifies complex datasets, processes, and institutional structures.
  • Ensure clarity, consistency, and scalability across multi-module platforms.

3. UI Design & Visual Systems

  • Design high-fidelity interfaces that align with Seismic’s brand, professionalism, and credibility as a consulting firm.
  • Create and maintain design systems, component libraries, and style guides.
  • Ensure designs are responsive, accessible (WCAG principles), and optimized for web and mobile environments.
  • Balance clarity, elegance, and functionality—especially for executive and government-facing dashboards.

4. Collaboration & Product Delivery

  • Work closely with:
  • Software developers (frontend & backend)
  • AI/ML engineers
  • M&E specialists
  • Policy and sector experts
  • Translate UX designs into developer-ready assets (Figma, design tokens, interaction specs).
  • Participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and product demos.

5. Usability Testing & Iteration

  • Conduct usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and feedback sessions.
  • Iterate designs based on evidence, user feedback, and performance metrics.
  • Continuously improve user experience across deployed systems.

6. Strategic Design Thinking

  • Contribute to proposal development, demos, and concept notes by producing compelling product mockups and prototypes.
  • Support Seismic’s positioning as a technology-enabled consulting firm through strong product storytelling.
  • Apply systems thinking to ensure designs reflect institutional realities and policy workflows.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, HCI, Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
  • 3–7 years of proven experience in UI/UX design for complex systems, platforms, or enterprise tools.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating:
  • UX reasoning and problem-solving
  • Data-heavy or workflow-driven products
  • End-to-end design ownership
