Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Power System Analyst.
About the team
The Smart Grid Technology Lab focuses on research in real-time simulation technologies, microgrid energy management, control systems, and other smart grid technologies. We apply cutting-edge technologies to the digital power industry. The lab has developed into a research organization with significant achievements and a strong impact in the industry.
About the job
- Develop accurate simulation models of power systems and power electronics(PSCAD, EMTP, Hypersim, OPAL-RT,RSCAD, etc.).
- Implement and validate simulation models to assess system performance under various scenarios and operating conditions.
- Perform detailed analysis of power systems electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation results and provide insights into grid stability, fault response, and dynamic behavior.
- Collaborate with the research and development team to investigate emerging technologies and assist in preparing technical reports based on simulation findings.
About the ideal candidate
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a focus of Real-Time Simulation.
- Strong experience in using EMT software (e.g., PSCAD, EMTP, Power Factory) , real-time simulation platforms (e.g., RTDS, OPAL-RT, Typhoon HIL) , or other simulation software (e.g., Simulink, PLECS) for power system/power electronics modeling and analysis.
- Knowledge of power systems and power electronics modeling and analysis, including generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and real-time control systems is an asset.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
