The SW Integration Test Engineer is directly responsible for the technical integrity, code quality, and successful L3 validation and verification of assigned automotive features. The engineer is expected to spend a significant portion of their time on feature automation & test benches (SIL/HIL) to ensure L3 test coverage meets feature requirements and end-user needs.
- Defines and implements the end-to-end validation & verification strategy for assigned features, covering both manual and automated testing approaches to be executed across all vehicle programs supported, as well as the test boundaries definition (with the Test Interface engineer), required test environment configurations, and definition of critical test cases necessary to achieve comprehensive test coverage.
- 4 days on site in GTBC Ford México (Naucalpan, México)
- Reviews feature requirements and vehicle architecture documentation to design comprehensive L3 test cases to cover all feature requirements including edge cases and system-level integration.
- Executes automated and manual tests across the full spectrum of environments, including SIL (Software-in-the-Loop), HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop), and Vehicle.
- Develops and implements automated test cases as robust, reliable, and maintainable code.
- Analyzes results, debugs test code, and performs root cause analysis when tests fail to identify whether the defect resides in the software or the test environment.
- Leads the refactoring of test cases & test code and the enhancement of test case design to ensure the test suite remains robust and does not become "brittle" or outdated.
- Manage the feature-specific test suite & test cases attributes for effective test management and creation of test runs required to support feature testing across relevant vehicle programs and defined test milestones.
- Validates software fixes through targeted re-testing and regression execution for critical or complex feature sets.
- Actively feeds requirements back to the Core Automation tools organization and maintains a deep understanding of the automation framework's inner workings to troubleshoot setup, configuration, and library compatibility issues.
Minimum Requirements
We are seeking candidates who meet the following minimum qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study.
- 3+ years of experience developing and managing all test assets, including test plans, test cases, and both automated and manual test scripts.
- Demonstrable proficiency in an object-oriented programming language such as Python or C++.
- Strong experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), including branching and merging strategies.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks.
- Experience with test automation frameworks (preferably Pytest, Behave).
- Experience with electrical schematics for vehicle components and systems and the electrical architectures of distributed systems.
- Experience in bench testing of distributed electrical systems (Electrical System Engineering), including functional integration, test execution, measurement and instrumentation, and incident reporting.
- Experience with embedded controller networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and the use of diagnostic and communication tools to troubleshoot distributed vehicle systems (e.g., CANoe, CANalyzer).
Nice to have
We will give preference to candidates who possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation and testing platforms (e.g., dSPACE, Vector VT System, NI VeriStand).
- Experience in performance testing of embedded systems, including measuring CPU load, memory usage, boot time, and network bus utilization.
- Familiarity with software security testing principles and techniques (e.g., fuzz testing CAN/Ethernet traffic, SAST/DAST).
- Working knowledge of Electronic Control Modules (ECUs) and Automotive Embedded Systems.
- Proficiency with testing and defect management tools, such as JIRA and TestRail.
- Deep experience with analyzing system logs and performing root cause analysis.
- Effective Communication: Clear and concise spoken and written communication skills, critical for daily interaction with users across the SE&V organization.
- Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to work with cross-functional development and validation teams, demonstrating strong networking, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
- Problem Solving: A high tolerance for ambiguity and a proven ability to solve complex engineering problems.
