Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide approved DeVry University syllabus
  • Organize, prepare, and update all course materials
  • Use appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software
  • Model effective oral and written communications
  • Set clear expectations for the course
  • Ensure exam content corresponds to course objectives
  • Demonstrate consistency and fairness in grading
  • Provide timely feedback to students
  • Integrate responsible use of AI technologies in the classroom
  • Recognize, evaluate, and address appropriate and inappropriate student use of AI tools

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • At least 18 graduate credit hours in software development, programming, software engineering, or related computing disciplines
  • Three to five years of applied professional experience in software development, software engineering, application development, or related programming roles
  • Demonstrated experience with modern programming languages, development frameworks, and software engineering practices
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, software lifecycle management, and quality assurance methodologies
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices

Preferred

  • Industry certifications in programming or software development technologies (e.g., Python, Java, .NET, or equivalent)
  • Experience with modern software development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, test-driven development, and iterative design
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices
  • Experience designing and developing full-stack applications
  • Experience with programmatic or regional accreditation processes
  • Active membership or engagement in professional software development or computing organizations
  • Experience integrating development environments, collaborative coding platforms, and project-based software development labs into post-secondary instruction
  • Two to five years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level
