Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the full integration architecture
  • Develop and maintain all system integration components
  • Build and test automated funds check interfaces
  • Implement real-time LOA data linkages
  • Develop API gateway configurations
  • Maintain API documentation, integration runbooks, and data dictionaries
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Architect on integration designs
  • Support integration testing activities
  • Participate in ATO support activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration performance and reliability issues
  • Mentor junior developers and data engineers

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years focused on enterprise system integration and middleware development
  • Demonstrated expertise in RESTful API design and development
  • Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger specification
  • Experience with enterprise integration patterns
  • Experience with event-driven architectures
  • Experience with message queues
  • Experience with ESB/iPaaS platforms
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, or Node.js
  • Experience integrating COTS platforms with federal legacy systems
  • Working knowledge of federal security standards (NIST SP 800-53, TLS/mTLS, OAuth 2.0/OIDC)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
  • Active or ability to obtain government security clearance

Preferred

  • Direct experience building integrations on or with the Appian platform
  • Familiarity with VA enterprise integration standards
  • Familiarity with MuleSoft
  • Familiarity with IBM MQ
  • Experience integrating federal financial management systems
  • Knowledge of HL7 FHIR
  • Knowledge of EDI
  • Experience supporting FedRAMP High or VA ATO accreditation
