  • Understand complex financial domains: revenue recognition principles (ASC 606 / IFRS 15), SOX compliance requirements
  • Partner across engineering, product, compliance, finance, internal audit, external auditors, and security
  • Explain a system design to an auditor and a data flow to a controller

  • Debug systems and applications effectively using Metrics, Logfetch, Error Reporting, and Tracing
  • Perform code reviews focusing on unhandled edge cases, failure scenarios, performance issues, or regressions
  • Raise issues if the team moves too fast, cuts corners, or reliability drops
  • Own reliability and security work
  • Complete work items independently and proactively
  • Triages work to complete it in SLA

  • Go deeper on compliance engineering: SOX controls, audit trail design, change management
  • Take on broader system design work and own larger pieces of HubSpot's financial data layer
  • Develop a reputation as a trusted technical resource for Finance leadership and Internal Audit
