Forward Deployed AI Consultant

The Forward Deployed AI Consultant is a client-embedded, full-lifecycle business and technical consulting role. The role is customer-facing, embedded with our customers virtually (in some cases physically) to better understand their business and needs to identify how AI enabled applications and experiences can improve their business and deliver tangible ROI. FDaiC's are technical in nature and are expected to stay current on latest agentic engineering techniques and tools and will deliver production solutions end-to-end, and are driven by genuine curiosity about the space. Description

As a Forward Deployed AI Consultant, you are the technical face of Nexera with our customers. You will embed directly with client teams to understand their business challenges, design AI-powered solutions, and build and ship those solutions end-to-end, from architecture through production deployment and adoption. This is not a back-office engineering role. You will be in the room with stakeholders, translating real-world problems into working software that delivers real, measurable business impact.

You will own the full solution lifecycle

specifications, architecture, source code, test plans, infrastructure automation, deployment pipelines, security posture, and post-launch adoption. You will also play a key role in helping customers understand how AI changes their workflows and driving the organizational change management that makes adoption stick.

What You'll Do

Discover and Define

Work directly with customers to identify high-value business problems, assess feasibility, and scope AI-powered solutions that drive real outcomes.

Design and Build

Own full solution design and implementation including specifications, architecture, production source code, test plans, and infrastructure-as-code, using modern AI-assisted development workflows.

Deploy and Secure

Stand up deployment pipelines, implement DevSecOps practices, and ensure solutions meet enterprise-grade reliability and security standards.

Evaluate and Iterate

Design agent evaluation frameworks, monitor production AI systems, and iterate based on real-world performance and customer feedback.

Drive Adoption

Lead change management with customer organizations. Train end users, build documentation, and ensure solutions are embraced, not just delivered.

Innovate How We Work

Experiment with and define agentic workflows and tools that improve product design, the SDLC, and the overall quality of how Nexera delivers. Your ideas become part of our operating model.

What We're Looking For

5+ years of experience building production business solutions. You have shipped real software that real people use.

Demonstrated agentic engineering experience

You have built with AI agents, used AI-powered development tools in production workflows, and understand the patterns and failure modes of LLM-driven systems.

Consulting or client-facing experience preferred

You know how to manage stakeholders, navigate ambiguity, and deliver under pressure in someone else's environment.

Strong communication and customer management skills

You can explain a technical architecture to a VP and pair-program with a junior developer in the same afternoon.

Problem-solving and analytical mindset

You break down ambiguous business problems into tractable technical solutions.

Agent design, development, evaluation, and operations

You understand the full agent lifecycle, from prompt design and tool integration through evaluation harnesses and production monitoring.

Relentless curiosity

You learn new tools and frameworks because you're drawn to them. You have opinions about where AI development is headed and you're eager to prove them out.

Tools and Technologies (Preferred)

We move fast and use the best tools available. You must have experience with one or more of the following:

Full-stack web technologies

Modern frameworks (React, Next.js, Node, Python/FastAPI, etc.)

Cloud infrastructure

Azure, Google Cloud, and/or AWS, including infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi, Bicep, CDK)

AI platforms

Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, and/or Google Gemini APIs and SDKs for building production AI features

AI-enabled IDEs

Visual Studio, VS Code, Google Anti-Gravity, Cursor

AI CLI and agentic tools

Claude Code, Gemini CLI, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot

Compensation and Benefits

Salary

$120,000 - $200,000 per year, based on experience and location

Location

Remote-first (US-based); flexible work schedule; occasional travel to customer sites as needed
