About us

ButterflyMX was founded in 2014 with a simple idea: use technology to make the places where people live, work, and visit safe, simple, and easy to manage.

What started as a smart video intercom has grown into a unified property access and security platform used by more than 20,000 properties. Today, our technology helps owners and operators manage access, strengthen security, automate everyday workflows, and create better experiences for residents, tenants, visitors, staff, and vendors.

We’re continuing to build what’s next for property technology, bringing hardware, software, and integrations together to solve real-world challenges at scale. And we’re looking for talented people who want to help us shape the future of how people access and experience the built world.

Our team

Our team includes 300+ talented people across the United States, Canada, and Europe, including engineers, designers, customer success professionals, salespeople, and marketers. Together, we build the hardware and software that power ButterflyMX’s unified property access and security platform — helping properties automate access, operations, and security from a single system.

With four offices worldwide, including our global headquarters in New York City, our Canadian headquarters in Toronto, and our European headquarters in Croatia, ButterflyMX combines a distributed team with a shared mission: to make properties safe, simple, and easy to operate.
