Cardiff lends to small businesses. Since 2004 we've funded more than $12 billion across the country, to businesses in logistics, healthcare, construction, professional services, and plenty in between. We're building our own underwriting technology, and we still answer the phone; our customers need capital fast, and they want a straight answer from a person who can actually help.
The Role
You'll be responsible for the day-to-day administration and health of Cardiff's Salesforce environment while supporting employee IT operations. This is primarily an
administrator role, not a Salesforce Developer position
.
You'll work closely with Sales, RevOps, Underwriting, Marketing, Engineering, and People to manage Salesforce requests, maintain data quality, administer users and permissions, improve business processes, document the environment, and provide dependable internal technology support. You'll also help identify opportunities to simplify processes and automate repetitive administrative work using modern tools, including AI.
What You'll Own
Salesforce Administration
Own the day-to-day administration and reliability of Salesforce, including:
- Users, roles, profiles, permission sets, and access
- Custom objects and fields
- Record types and page layouts
- Validation rules and formula fields
- Salesforce Flow and approval processes
- Reports and dashboards
- Salesforce security and sharing settings
- Sandbox administration
- User troubleshooting and support
You'll make thoughtful configuration changes that solve business problems without unnecessarily increasing the complexity of the Salesforce environment.
Data Quality & Governance
Keep Salesforce trustworthy as a system of record.
You'll manage
- Duplicate identification and cleanup
- Field governance
- Data validation
- Data imports and exports
- Ownership and access issues
- Data-quality reporting
- Documentation of important fields and processes
The goal is simple
teams should be able to trust the information they see in Salesforce.
Request Management
Own incoming Salesforce and IT requests from teams including Sales, RevOps, Underwriting, Marketing, and People.
You'll
- Understand what the requester is trying to accomplish
- Determine the appropriate solution
- Prioritize requests
- Communicate status proactively
- Test changes before release
- Document what changed
- Close the loop with the requester
We want someone who can manage their own queue without stakeholders having to repeatedly ask for updates.
Employee IT Support
Own the technology experience for employees joining and leaving Cardiff.
That includes
- Ordering and provisioning laptops and equipment
- Preparing computers before new-hire start dates
- Setting up employee accounts and access
- Troubleshooting common hardware and software issues
- Maintaining equipment and asset records
- Coordinating equipment returns
- Deactivating accounts promptly during offboarding
- Maintaining clear onboarding and offboarding checklists
A new employee should arrive on day one with everything they need to work.
Salesforce Releases & Change Management
Maintain a disciplined process for making Salesforce changes.
You'll work with
- Sandboxes
- Testing and UAT
- Release management
- Change documentation
- Source control and deployment tools where appropriate
You don't need to be a DevOps engineer, but you should understand why significant changes should be tested and controlled before reaching production.
Integrations
Help maintain and troubleshoot the systems connected to Salesforce.
You should understand at a practical level how Salesforce exchanges data with other applications and be comfortable working with technical teammates when an integration isn't behaving correctly.
Experience with REST APIs, JSON, middleware, or other integration tools is helpful, but we are not hiring you to be an integration engineer.
Documentation
Document the environment so knowledge doesn't live only in someone's head.
That includes
- Salesforce configuration
- Important automations
- Access and permission decisions
- Business processes
- Integrations and dependencies
- Deployment procedures
- IT onboarding/offboarding procedures
How We Think About Automation
We're deliberate about keeping Salesforce maintainable.
Salesforce should remain a reliable system of record and interface for our teams. We don't believe every business problem needs another Flow, managed package, or custom Salesforce development project.
You'll work with Engineering when a problem is better solved outside Salesforce rather than being expected to build that external application yourself.
Your job is to understand the Salesforce side well enough to administer it, protect it, simplify it, and collaborate effectively with the engineers building around it.
How We Use AI
AI should make routine administrative work faster.
We'd like this person to be comfortable using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or similar
AI assistants for tasks such as
- Drafting documentation
- Troubleshooting
- Summarizing requests
- Data-cleanup assistance
- Writing or reviewing queries
- Creating test plans
- Preparing reports
- Organizing repetitive administrative work
You do
not
need to be an AI engineer or build AI agents.
We're more interested in whether you're curious, resourceful, and comfortable using modern tools to work more efficiently.
What Success Looks Like
First 30 days
You've learned the Salesforce environment, key business processes, integrations, user-access model, and employee IT procedures. You've identified the most important operational risks and opportunities for improvement.
First 90 days
Salesforce and IT requests are being handled on a predictable cadence. Stakeholders know where their requests stand. New-hire and offboarding processes are reliable. Salesforce changes are tested and documented, data quality is improving, and you've eliminated or automated at least one recurring manual administrative task.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on Salesforce administration experience
- Salesforce Certified Administrator
- Strong experience with Salesforce Flow, validation rules, formula fields, custom objects, page layouts, reports, dashboards, permissions, and security
- Experience managing Salesforce users and access
- Strong understanding of Salesforce data quality and governance
- Experience working with sandboxes, testing, releases, and production support
- Experience troubleshooting Salesforce issues and supporting end users
- Experience managing and prioritizing requests from business stakeholders
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Comfortable learning and troubleshooting SaaS applications and employee technology
- Willingness to own hands-on IT responsibilities including laptop provisioning, onboarding, offboarding, and equipment management
- Comfortable using modern AI tools to improve administrative productivity
Nice to Have
- Experience in fintech, lending, banking, or another regulated environment
- Experience supporting Sales, Underwriting, RevOps, or Marketing teams
- Experience with REST APIs and JSON
- Familiarity with SOQL
- Basic Apex or JavaScript familiarity
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, or Salesforce deployment tools
- Salesforce Platform App Builder or Advanced Administrator certification
- Experience with Snowflake, Data Cloud, or another data warehouse
- Experience with lending platforms such as Fundingo or nCino
- Previous help desk, IT support, or device-management experience
Who You Are
You're an administrator and problem solver at heart.
You like organized systems, clean data, documented processes, and users who know where to go when they need help.
You communicate proactively. If something is blocked, you tell people rather than waiting for them to ask.
You're comfortable working independently and prioritizing competing requests.
You don't automatically build whatever someone asks for. You first understand the problem and determine the simplest reliable solution.
And you don't consider everyday operational work beneath you. Whether the problem is a broken Salesforce permission, duplicate records, a confusing Flow, or a new employee who needs a laptop, you take ownership and get it resolved.
This Role May Not Be a Fit If You
- Primarily want to work as a Salesforce Developer
- Want most of your day to involve Apex or LWC development
- Are looking for a Salesforce Architect position
- Don't want to provide internal user or IT support
- Don't want responsibility for laptops, equipment, onboarding, or offboarding
- Prefer making changes directly in production without testing or documentation
- Need highly structured assignments and extensive direction
- Prefer building complex solutions when a simpler administrative solution will work
