QSSR-SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT & DATABASE ADMINISTRATION ENGINEER

Job Purpose

Senior Software Development & Database Administration Engineer will support existing systems, develop new solutions, manage databases, work effectively with software consultant and help the DSSU adopt modern technologies and AI-enabled digital solutions

Key Responsibilities

• Developing, maintaining, upgrading and modernizing existing and new software applications.
• Analyzing legacy systems developed using different technologies and ensuring their continued operation and modernization.
• Designing, administering, securing, optimizing, backing up and recovering organizational databases.
• Developing APIs and integrating existing systems with new applications.
• Designing and implementing secure, scalable and maintainable software solutions.
• Supporting data analytics, dashboards, automation and appropriate AI-enabled solutions.
• Applying software development, cybersecurity, testing, version control and deployment best practices.
• Working closely with external software consultants, reviewing their technical work, source code, databases, documentation and deliverables.
• Ensuring proper technical knowledge and system ownership are transferred to the organization after software projects are completed.
• Providing technical recommendations to management on software modernization, database management, AI, analytics, and digital transformation.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports to head IT.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field. A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
• Experience: At least 3 years of relevant professional experience, with 5+ years preferred, in software development, database administration, or related areas.

Key Competencies

• Strong experience in software development, system analysis, application architecture and database administration.
• Proven ability to work with both legacy/old technologies and modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Preferred Programming language include: C#, Java, Python, JavaScript/Typescript, PHP, C/C++, SQL. The candidate should not be restricted to a single programming language.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle.
• Experience in API development and system integration.
• Knowledge of Git, DevOps, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, backup/recovery, and system deployment.
• Understanding of data analytics, AI integration, automation and modern digital technologies.
• Ability to analyze, upgrade, modernize and maintain existing systems while developing new applications.
• Relevant professional certifications in software development, databases, cloud, cybersecurity, AI, or data analytics will be an added advantage.
